What is the most ideal age to photograph our children?

0-12 months

We recommend that in the first year you photograph your baby at least twice.  Our sweet spots are 9 days old for their sleepy newborn shots, 2 months old for their baby studio shots and 10months old for chubby, smiley, sweet shots.  But anywhere in between is good too – we have some of the most beautiful shots in between these ages – it all depends on the baby.

The only age to avoid 2-6 weeks old as baby is usually pimply and often unsettled during this period.

12months-4 years

Once a year is perfect to document the dramatic change in their growth.  Yearly updates over time provide a wonderful series of their journey through childhood that is so valuable to look back on.

4yrs-12 yrs

They are changing less and every two to three years is sufficient.

If you can actually get your teenagers to come and have their photos taken then this can turn out to be a great confidence booster for them.  We can shoot with musical instruments, create fashion shots, or a family shoot in the park, whatever suits your personality.

How much do your photos cost?

Every family spends a different amount on their photos, depending on how many photos they would like to purchase, what sizes they choose and what presentation option suits them best – frames, acrylic blocks, canvas or albums.Once you’ve had your photo session our prints start from $220. Our framed wall portraits start from $595.
For a detailed price guide please call the studio on 9386 5887.

Can I purchase the images on disc?

Yes, we do have digital packages available which are printable up to 8×12” photographs. We have a range of packages to suit your budget.  Please call the studio on 93865887 for further details.

Is there a minimum spend?

While we don’t have a minimum spend policy, we understand that you will absolutely love your photos and will most likely want to purchase over your package. We advise to allow a budget of at least $595 for your photos.

What should I wear?

Your portraits are a record of who you are now, so we will always suggest you wear items of clothing that are your favourites. Avoid strong patterns and items that have visible logos. Bring a change of clothes so that we have a lighter option and a darker option to work with. Ladies please wear tops with sleeves that cover shoulders and bra straps.

For children:

This is your opportunity to photograph your children in the cutest attire you have – please put some thought into what you would like them captured in.  It can be fun to bring hats, jewellery, superman outfits, fairy wings… or just jeans and t-shirt – whatever suits their personality.  Please bring at least 2-3 different outfits for each child.

Do I need bring anything else for the photographic session?

Props can be a great asset to your photographs, as they highlight your personality in the photos. Please feel free to bring in any props of your own that reflect your child’s/your personality, including favourite toys, cuddle rugs, hats, jewellery, musical instruments, soccor balls, family heirlooms, hand knitted products or something special from grandparents – whatever you feel will personalise your photographic session.

Newborn baby shoots:  Please bring in 2-3 towels to mop up accidents, a dribble cloth, a wrap or 2, extra nappies, and a plain black top for each parent among whatever other clothes you would like to be photographed in.

Glamour Shoots: Please bring in your favourite lingerie, shoes.

Our expert makeup artist can be arranged for a separate fee (optional)

Can I choose where I want my photographic session?

We photograph in our studio and also at parks and beaches around the eastern suburbs. We prefer you to use our recommended locations as we understand intricately the lighting and backgrounds that will produce beautiful shots. If you have a preference for your own location, it is possible, however a travel charge may apply.

Do you have a makeup artist?

We have fantastic make up artist that we can organise for you for an additional fee.

How do we order our photos?

Your purchasing appointment for viewing and ordering your photos is scheduled for a few days after the photographic session and takes 60-90mins.

We recommend that all key decision makers are present as payment is required on the day. People also find it easier to have no children during this appointment so they can make decisions without distraction. This is your only opportunity to decide on which images you would like to order.

Do I need to bring anything to my purchasing appointment?

We ask you to take a look around your home and make a mental picture of where you would hang images you fall in love with. We recommend that you take some measurements of your available wall space at home so you have an idea what size to order your favourite photographs.  It’s so helpful to have this knowledge during the purchasing appointment when you are making important decisions that will last you for many years.

How long do the images take once I have ordered them?

The images all go through a retouch process and once printed, will be ready in approximately 2 – 6 weeks, depending on whether you order prints, albums, frames or portrait boxes.

Do you do gift vouchers?

We have beautifully wrapped and presented gift vouchers, to suit all budgets and styles of photography. They can be posted, delivered or picked up. Please call the studio with your requirements.

How many photos do you take in a photographic session?

We present you with a selection of 50 – 80 photos at your personal viewing. How many of these you decide to purchase is up to you, however most families order their favourite 10-20 images.

Do you do retouching?

All of our work is retouched by our expert in-house retoucher, unless otherwise requested.  We like to keep our work natural looking.   If there is additional retouching required over and above our standard work, there may be an extra cost applied.

Is there parking available at your Absolute Photography studio?

There is easy 2hr parking on the streets around the studio. There is most parking availability on Paul Street and Woodstock St.

What happens if its raining?

Most photographic sessions take about 60-90 minutes. Occasionally we need less time, however to explore every creative option during the shoot, we sometimes need longer.
